Character archetypes (Project 2: Exercise 2)

Here is my list before researching character archetypes:

Hero – Protagonist (P)

Villain – Antagonist (A)

Ally – on the side of P

Ally – on the side of A

The voice of reason – again could work for both P or A

Shapeshifter

Romantic interest – again with P or A

Mentor – as name implies

Victim – as name implies

The omniscient – understands what is going on, can see the wood for the trees (possibly the voice of reason?) – used in the authorial voice maybe?

Here is what I found from researching character archetypes:

http://www.helpingwritersbecomeauthors.com/8-%C2%BD-character-archetypes-writing/

There were 8 listed by K M Weiland on the above website archetypes were:

Protagonist

Antagonist

Sidekick

Sceptic

Mentor or Guardian

Contagonist

Reason

Emotion

Love interest is the 8.5th character, as normally it is one of the above! Ignoring this one, the first eight pair up as opposites.

And from another website:

http://greatstorybook.com/top-12-character-archetypes/

Caregiver

Creator

Explorer

Hero

Innocent

Jester

Lover

Magician

Orphan

Rebel

Ruler

Sage

And from a third website:

I particularly like the goal and fear given to each archetype in this table.
